About Marília Mendonça

Marília Dias Mendonça, was a Beloved singer and songwriter born on July 22, 1995 (she died in November 5, 2021), in Crispianópolis, Goiás but she was raised in Goinânia. Know as "Rainha da sofrência" (Queen of Sofrência), her musical journey started when she was very young, she used to compose music for artists in the sertanejo genre, her ability to combine sadness with rythms made her stand out and eventually sing her musics herself. Her strong and melodic voice combined with the relatable situations singed by her led her fame to rapid reach her with musics that were know all around Brazil.

She officially started her career as a singer in 2015 and right in the next year her live album putted her in between the top sertanejo singers because of one specific hit called "Infiel", this hit gave her triple diamond disc certification. Marília discovered the "feminejo", a type of sertanejo but with feminine dominance, it talks mainly about love and relationships. She made use of that subgenre to challenge the traditional sertanejo singed by men, giving to all woman a voice in a masculin musical genre, all of that through heartfelt ballads. She made her success with albums like "Realidade" and "Todos os Cantos", which was responsible for giving her a Latin Grammy.

Along with her studio recordings, she was also a phenomenon when it was related to internet. beside her milions of followers on social media, she also made online performances during the COVID - 19 pandemic, having series of records breaked on each livestream. One of them provided her a world record ​of most wached live solo performed by a solo artist with 3,3 milion views. She was also the most listened artist in Spotify Brazil in 2019 and 2020 which demostrates how big and loyal her fans were.

Tragically, Marília Mendonça died in a plane crash on her way to perform a show in Minas Gerais, the impact of it was so strong that left a void in Brazil's music community scene and aballed many of her fans. Although she died her legacy is still strong and everything she did for the sertanejo's community is never going to be forgotten.

Marília Dias Mendonça was born on July 22, 1995 in Cristianópolis, Goiás, Brazil but her family soon decided to move to Goiânia. From a very young age, she felt attracted by music, for example, she used to sing in her church, she also liked to compose. When she was 12 years old she composed the first song, which was to the duo João Neto 

When she was olde, Marília built her career silently. As a teenager, she composed music for famous artists and duos which helped her to start working with the WorkShow management/agency, that helped her with her songwriter career and gave the impulse she needed to start a solo career as singer. In 2014 she dropped her first EP called "Marília Mendonça". Tis EP included songs like "Porteiro" and "Sentimento Louco", which became popular enough to encourage her to keep going. After that in 2015 she released another popular single called "Impasse", a collaboration with Henrique & Juliano and later on "A Flor e o Beija-Flor" also with Henrique & Juliano.

Marília’s major breakthrough came in 2016, when she released her new album "Marília Mendonça: Ao Vivo", a particular song called "Infiel" called the attention of the hole Brazil and became the top 1 most listened song in the whole country.Enjoying the fame of the music she released even more songs and participated in more live shows, for example, a project called "Agora Que São Elas" with the participation of the duo Maiara & Maraísa). For that and other things she did, people gave her the nickname "Queen of Sofrência". To conclude 2020 she set many records during her pandemic live streams, one of which reached milionsof views.

In 2021, Marília was on top of her career, she released singles like "Patoras 35%" which was a collaborative project with Maiara & Maraísa and continued to be in between the bests. Unfortunatelly she died in a plane crash on November 5, 2021 while heading to a show. Her death had a huge impact on Brazil's population as a whole.

Even after she died, Marília's musics kept being released for a while, for example, her album Decretos Reais was initially being released music by music and then the whole album. It started being released in 2022, and in May 2023 the rest of the album, these songs also won awards like the Latin Grammy. Her legacy also counts with more than 10 bilion listeners on spotify. She is still a figure of influence and many woman in the sertanejo industry use her as inspiration
